About Me

Before starting my career as an educator, I spent over 15 years with SDSU and UCSD conducting public health research focused on livable, walkable, healthy communities. I am a graduate of the Teaching Apprenticeship Program (TAP) at High Tech High's Graduate School of Education, where I earned a California multiple subjects teaching credential. I completed my student teaching at High Tech Elementary, working in 2nd and 5th grade classrooms as an embedded co-teacher. I am thrilled to be joining the 5th grade teaching team at High Tech Explorer Elementary in San Diego for the 2020-2021 school year.

I am passionate about excavating inner truth and drive. My work with students focuses on building personal connection and encouraging the unique voices that each student brings to the classroom. On this page, you'll find more about my teaching philosophy, both my general resume and an academic CV with publications, and a reflection on my first year in the classroom.
